Paolo Caliari was born in Verona in 1528,he had his first artistic experiences in Treviso, then in Mantua at the Gonzaga court; later, he moved to Venice where he became famous with the name of Veronese, and where he also died in 1588.

His father's name was Gabriele and he was a stonemason.
His first master was Antonio Badile who also became his father-in-law.
From Elena Badile, his wife, he had 5 children including Carlo and Gabriele,
who were his collaborators and who, together with his brother Benedetto,Paolo Veronese autoritratto continued his work.

the church of San Sebastiano, San Francesco delle Vigna,
San Giovanni and Paolo, San Giuseppe di Castello,
San Lazzaro dei Mendicanti, San Pietro di Castello,
San Pantalon, San Zulian, San Luca, San Giacomo dell'Orio, San Polo
(in addition to the others colloacted in Palazzo Ducale
and in Gallerie dell'Accademia)

In Maser: Villa Barbaro, Palladio's masterpiece;
In Castelfranco: Sacristy of the Cathedral and,
in Sant'Andrea beyond the Muson, Villa Chiminelli frescoed by Benedetto Caliari.
